These are some of our member’s current projects

This 49 Ford Tudor is waiting a complete restoration. Our member found this car in Albany New York. The car has been in storage since 1974. We are excited in seeing its progress.

One in Progress and getting Nowhere

When I am not working my primary job I spend the remaining part of my time working on club related business, then maybe spend a day in the garage, where most of my time is utilized in complete restorations of our own vehicles and they being all Fords from the 30s to the mid 60s. Anything in the 80s to 90s becomes parts donors or everyday drivers for our children.

Currently we are working on a 1964 Fairlane 500 2 door hard top that is Lynn’s car. The car was driven into the garage about 2 years ago and has been completely dismantled. The front suspension cut from its unitized rails and replaced using a mustang II cross member with rack & pinion steering and disk brakes. This was not done because of replacement parts not being available but to improve ride and handling by using more modern technology with safety in mind.

Power brakes are being added and the donor vehicle was the remains of an un-restorable 1967 Mustang. Most parts used were rebuilt and the donor parts were used to avoid the core charges that many jobbers charge for if they don’t have the parts to replenish their stock. While the engine is removed from the car it will go through a complete rebuild prior to replacement. Harden valve seats installed to make the engine unleaded fuel compatible. The transmission also will be remanufactured and upgraded.

The body will go through some mild changes that won’t be so obvious at a glance. The door handles and locks were removed to give the car a smooth shaved look.  Electronic remote poppers will be installed to gain access to the passenger compartment. The deck lid was striped of its lock cylinder and also shaved and will have the same type of access. The entire project will take approximately three maybe four years with countless hours involved. After the cars completion the rewards will be paid by many years of service and enjoyment by attending shows and meets that pertain to our hobby.
